David Jones
David W. Jones is a partner with Capitol Counsel LLC. With nearly two decades of political experience, Mr. Jones advises clients on politics and process in Washington, D.C.
Most recently, Mr. Jones served as a consultant to the campaigns of both Senator Max Baucus (D-MT), Chairman of the Senate Finance Committee, and Congressman Charles
Rangel (D-NY), Chairman of the House Ways and Means Committee. US News & World Report said of successful events Jones organized, “…money does not come through magic. It comes through guys like David Jones.”
Mr. Jones served as the national finance director for the former House Democratic Leader Richard A. Gephardt (D-MO), creating one of the top national finance operations from 1992-1998. National Journal referred to Gephardt’s lead fundraiser
and his team as “seemingly inexhaustible and persistent.”
In 2008, Mr. Jones served as a member of the finance committee for Senator Hillary Clinton’s presidential campaign. In 2006, he was a consultant to Congressman Patrick Kennedy’s campaign. He worked on the finance staff for Vice President Al Gore’s presidential campaign in 2000. In 1999, Mr. Jones and the former Democratic National Committee Chairman, Terry McAuliffe, helped lead the America’s
Millennium Leadership Committee, created by President and Mrs. Clinton, to host the celebration on the National Mall on New Year’s Eve 2000 that was broadcast by CBS. Mr. Jones was a member of the national finance board for President Clinton’s 1996 re-election and served on the staff of Clinton’s 1993 presidential inauguration. From 1990-92, Mr. Jones worked on the senatorial and presidential campaigns of U.S.
Senator Tom Harkin (D-IA). He has also served as a consultant to the Democratic National Committee.
Mr. Jones has been interviewed about political campaigns by the New York Times, Washington Post, Wall Street Journal, US News & World Report, Roll Call, The Hill, CNN, Fox News, PBS News Hour, USA Today, National Public Radio and ABC News. Campaigns and Elections Magazine called Mr. Jones a “rising star” in American politics.
Mr. Jones is on the Board of Trustees of the American Council of Young Political Leaders, a U.S. State Department-funded international exchange program. He was appointed by Pennsylvania Governor Ed Rendell as a member of the Council of Trustees at Kutztown University of Pennsylvania.
Mr. Jones is a graduate of Kutztown University of Pennsylvania with a B.A. in Political Science.
